Clinical Practice Guidelines: Overview

The TOP Clinical Practice Guideline (CPG) program is continuing to evolve its evidence-based approaches in developing practical advice for physicians.

After consultation with key stakeholders and the TOP CPG advisory committee, it was decided that the TOP CPG program will stop developing CPGs on single clinical topics.

Over the past decade, more system partners have developed their own capacity and resources for developing CPGs and other point of care clinical advice.

Whilst we will continue synthesizing and curating evidence-based recommendations, we will shift our focus from single clinical topics to bundles (eg. ASaP) & guidelines on topics that support the implementation of the patient’s medical home.

We are transitioning existing CPGs from our website over time, prioritizing those which are out of date and need to be retired.

Where possible, we will provide links to alternative sources of CPGs or alternative point of care clinical advice.

CPGs that were developed with system partners will be hosted on their websites going forward. We will provide direct links to their sites.

From the menu to the left, you will find links to TOP CPGs or suitable alternatives and a page with links to other sources of high-quality point of care clinical advice.
