Title:

Investigation and Management of Erectile Dysfunction and Hypogonadism

Description:

Guideline to assist Alberta clinicians to understand the investigation and management of erectile dysfunction. Discusses history taking, focused physical exams, and laboratory studies. The guideline stresses the importance of counseling of the patient +/- partner and indicators for referral.

Target Population:

Men who are unable to have or sustain an erection adequate for satisfactory sexual activity for at least three months, and/or men who have symptoms of decreased sexual desire and/or erectile dysfunction.

Exclusions:

This guideline does not apply to those patients with:

Other forms of sexual dysfunction (i.e., premature ejaculation)
